Homer Simpson Network - CLG Wiki's Dream LogosHomer Simpson Network - CLG Wiki's Dream LogosHomer Simpson Network (1989)

Nickname: "Homer Ident Snippets"

Logo: Here are some of the placeholders used by Homer Simpson from 1988-1989:
  • American Flag: We see the Simpsons family looking at flying flags. Then we cut to various people looking at some other flags, first Krusty, then a satellite, and finally, Mr. Burns, who has a very angry look, before it cuts to the American flag, we zoom in on the union and soon the stars morph into "HOMER SIMPSON" in the famous font used for The Simpsons logo. A more common short version starts at the American flag flying.
  • Homer TV: We see an airplane and we then cut inside to a view of the first class section filled with passengers, then we zoom in on a TV that has the "HOMER SIMPSON" text on it.
  • Homer Trash Can: Against a silver background, we see many objects falling down and landing in a black circle. Then the black circle can be seen, but we pan out to find out it is actually a tash can, with "HOMER SIMPSON" in the colors of the objects, which, in The Simpsons font, is visible. Then the text flashes to white and a fly flies out of the trash can.
  • Fish: On a stage surrounded by blue fish, we see three green fish dancing and another one playing the piano. A curtain, with the "HOMER SIMPSON" text in the familiar Simpsons font drops.
  • Golf: We see the toe of a golf club, with a yellow ball with "HOMER SIMPSON" on it. It hits it and goes through a loop with a yellow arrow with "HOMER SIMPSON" on it. It comes through a windmill with flat yellow hands with "HOMER SIMPSON" on it and finally gets through a curvy pathway with "HOMER SIMPSON" arrows pointing up.
  • Submarine: We see a dinosaur standing in the middle of a field, looking around. Suddenly, the ground turns into water, and a yellow submarine with "HOMER SIMPSON" on it floats up to the surface, right under the dinosaur's feet.
  • Teacup: On a black background, we see a very weird looking tea-dispenser with green grass-like hair, big eyes, a tongue holding a teacup, and a tube coming out of its nose into the teacup. The tea-dispenser slowly spins so that the camera is facing the back of it, and starts to become transparent. When it becomes fully transparent, we see three fish with "HOMER SIMPSON" on them swimming in circles inside.
  • Bikes: On a black background, we see two hand-drawn people (one yellow and one purple) riding bikes. This then changes to a blue person wearing green clothing falling over on a bike carrying packages, then to another purple person riding a bike and finally multiple red people passing by on their bikes. During the last shot, a yellow person also passes by, with one of his bike's gears reading "HOMER SIMPSON". When this gear shows up on screen, every part of the yellow person's bike except the gear disappears, leaving only the gear on screen.
  • Bomb: On a white background, we see a yellow bomb reading "HOMER SIMPSON" with a lit fuse. When the bomb detonates, it explodes into an yellow drop, which transforms into a yellow fish reading "HOMER SIMPSON" and then into a yellow triangle also reading "HOMER SIMPSON".
  • Pattycake: We see two silhouettes with yellow outlines playing Pattycake on the moon in outer space (we also see Earth in the background). The silhouettes clap hands two times and four yellow hands appear on screen. When they clap hands again, they disappear and "HOMER SIMPSON" apppears on the four yellow hands.
Trivia: These logos were all based on the iconic idents that Homer Simpson was known for throughout most of the 1980's.

Variant: There was a superimposed variant of the short flag logo that was seen on Be Attention!, the French-Canadian language version of Be Careful!.

FX/SFX: It depends on the variant.

Music/Sounds: The closing theme of the show.

Music/Sounds Variant: On several episodes of The Sherlock Holmes Game Show, we hear silence over the flag logo. On the video Be Careful!: The Inside Scoop, we hear the flag logo's music.

Availability: Most of the variants can be seen on the Studio City--taped episodes of Be Careful! Sloppy Stuff Edition. The long flag version (with music) can be seen on the video Be Careful!: The Inside Scoop. The short flag version however, appeared on the syndicated versions of Be Careful! and The Sherlock Holmes Game Show, as well as the Structure version of Be Careful! Family Edition (and even appeared on the Australian version of Be Careful! after the "This program was produced by..." bumper). A short Homer Trash Can is seen on the syndicated version of Be Careful! and 1989 episodes of Be Careful! Sloppy Stuff Edition (both the Altoona and Studio City-taped episodes). The full Homer Trash Can however can be seen on the video How to Celebrate the Be Careful! Way.

Scare Factor: None to Low, depending on what you think of it.

2nd Logo
(2000-2006)

Homer Simpson (2000-2006)

Nickname: "The Arrow"

Logo: Against a teal background, the Homer Simpson logo (which resembles an arrow pointing to the right with dashes on the left) bounces around the screen, eventually settling on the top center of the screen. A copyright byline appears below it.

FX: The "bouncing".

Music/Sounds: Common usage is of the closing theme of the show or the audio from the previous logo (e.g. United Plopton Pictures and Twohiti). Sometimes it's kids laughing (commonly used after the Euclid Pictures ESF, but was also spotted on The Chinese Adventures of Justin and Fleas!) or car sounds accompanied by piano notes.

Music/Sounds Variant: For a brief moment in summer 2005, there was an announcer (possibly a female adult or an older child) that said "(SHOW NAME) next on Homer."

Availability: Extinct, retired as of 2006, used on network credit airings of Homer shows.

Scare Factor: None.

3rd Logo
(2006-2009)

Homer Simpson (2007)

Nickname: "Homer Simpson Triangle"

Logo: On a sky blue/white gradient background, we see a gold triangle fly in from the top right, stopping when it gets to the center of the screen. It has the Homer Simpson text on it, with a reflection below. A copyright byline appears below it.

Variants:
  • On The Signal Brothers, there is no copyright byline and "A" and "Presentation" fade in above and below the triangle respectively.
  • On Back to FarmVille, there is no copyright byline.

FX: The triangle flying in.

Music/Sounds: Commonly used the closing theme of the show that has just ended, but sometimes it's the same kids laughing sound from the previous logo. On episodes aired with network credits, the audio from the previous logo plays.

Availability: Appeared on Take Kin Down and later season episodes of The Chinese Adventures of Justin (on studio, non-North American and generic credits). Was seen on all Homer Simpson programming after the network credits on Homer Simpson until 2008 and now used only on the studio credits of all Homer Cartoons since Mexican Tiger. For some reason it is still used on network credits of shows on the Homer Cartoons Network. Also when Homer Simpson ran The Perfect MopMan Party marathon in July 2009, this logo was revived after the network credits of some MopMan episodes. This one is seen across Earth, unlike the 5th logo, but not as common as the 7th logo, plus it's ironically on non-North American airings of newer Back to FarmVille episodes in countries that still use "The Simpsons" font logo. It was shown on early season 6 episodes of The StrangeFairy Adults as well.

Scare Factor: None.

4th Logo
(February 2008-October 2009)

Homer Simpson (2008-)

Nicknames: "Homer Simpson Callout III", "CGI Homer Simpson Callout", "The Callout Returns"

Logo: On a black background, we see the Homer Simpson text in the familar "The Simpsons" font on a golden rectangle. A dark yellow glow can soon be seen and the rectangle transforms into a callout, a homage to the 1996 Homer Simpson Productions logo, with a reflection. Of course, copyright information appears over the reflection, but some shows have none.

Variants:
  • On the 2008 Children Awards, there is an extended version where the callout changes back to the rectangle; causing the reflection and glow to dissapear.
  • The logo is shown, minus byline, on some Homer Jr. shows, Back to FarmVille and the first five episodes of The Solider. However, some international reruns and more recent ones in the US still had the copyright stamp.

FX: The rectangle transforming into the callout, the glow.

Music/Sounds: The sound of kids laughing or none.

Music/Sounds Variant: On the Japanese Girl Bōken episode "Playing with Ants", the 2005 Homer Jr. Productions jingle may be used on the bylineless logo. This is the only Japanese Girl Bōken episode to use this logo with the Homer Jr. Productions music as other episodes use the bylineless version of this logo with the laugh.

Availability: Uncommon; seen on episodes of Tod's Unclassified School Disaster Guide and iKatie on Homer for Teens from the era along with two MopMan StraightJeans specials: MopMan's Last Stand and MopMan and the Clash of Threetron on Homer Simpson and HomerCartoons. It was also on The StrangeFairy Adults episodes starting with Season 6 until 2009. The bylineless version can be seen on network credits airings of Homer Jr. shows on Homer Simpson and plasters over the Homer Jr. Productions logo along with the first five episodes of The Solider on HomerCartoons. Also seen more commonly across Earth. Ironically, Homer Simpson Latin America still uses this logo on newer episodes of Homer shows.
This is also retained, strangely, on the MopMan StraightJeans episode "Craked Lobster" online on Homer's website.

Scare Factor: None.

5th Logo
(October 2009-)

Homer Simpson (2009)

Logo: Same as the 2009 Homer Simpson Productions logo, except there is no copyright byline and "PRODUCTIONS" dosen't fade in.

FX: Same as the 2009 Homer Simpson Productions logo.

Music/Sounds: Same as the 2009 Homer Simpson Productions logo

Availability: Current. Was seen a few times on television, but is currently on Homer Simpson DVDs.

Scare Factor: None.
